There's never enough time...
Between learning syllabus or curriculum, preparing for exams, assessments, competitions and concerts, we never seem to have enough time with our dancers!
Transform your studio environment with a Dancer Development Day using our ready-to-use workbook bundle. This structured experience helps dancers explore what influences their development, reflect on their goals, and build greater awareness of their training.
With guided activities and clear teaching prompts, you can confidently lead sessions that go beyond technique, supporting dancers to think, reflect, and take ownership of their journey.
It’s an opportunity to connect, educate, and elevate your studio’s approach to training.
Step 1: Download the Dancer Development Bundle
Start with the ready-to-use resources, including workbooks and activities designed to help dancers explore the factors that shape their development.
Step 2: Choose Your Format
Decide whether you want to run a short workshop, half-day session, full-day event, or multi-week program. A full-day event, with catering and little gifts can be very special and meaningful for your dancers!
Step 3: Pick a Date
Choose a time that works around your studio calendar, such as school holidays, before competition season, or during a quieter training period.
Step 4: Set Up Bookings
Create a booking page through your usual studio system, website, or ticketing platform. Include the date, time, age group, cost, and what dancers need to bring.
Step 5: Print Your Workbooks
Print one workbook per dancer, or provide digital copies if preferred. You may also like to prepare pens, highlighters and sticky notes.
Step 6: Plan Your Session Flow
Choose which activities you’ll use and build a simple schedule with breaks, and discussion time. I like to start with a little bit about my dance journey, before jumping into each of the workbooks and finish with the Dance Course Evaluation Matrix.
Step 7: Promote the Event
Share the opportunity with dancers and parents through email, social media, newsletters, and in-studio announcements.
Step 8: Run Your Dancer Development Day
Guide dancers through the workbook activities, encourage discussion, and help them connect the concepts to their own dance journey. Remind them to bring an iPad or laptop to do some hands-on research for dance courses!
Optional Add-Ons:
Invite a guest speaker, online or in-person (you can book me by emailing me!).
Step 9: Follow Up
After the event, encourage dancers to revisit their workbook, set next steps, and continue reflecting on their development throughout the term.
